Besieged television show Target has been rocked by new claims that it was told its controversial figures on formaldehyde in imported clothing were false prior to the show going to air.
There was extensive public relations activity around the episode of the TV3 consumer affairs show, in which laboratory testing purportedly found dangerous levels of formaldehyde in clothing imported from China.
The Importers Institute's Daniel Silva said it was done for hype, and was despicable behaviour. The incident has made news reports around the world.
