Another successful event at NZCTA in Christchurch

Profile

NZCTA Southern had another successful event, our second of the year, with the guest speaker being Kefeng Chu, Chief China Adviser at NZTE. During his presentation he updated membership on topics such as NZTE key sector movements for China, NZTE's high impact programme for China, investment with a China focus and the main lessons from the Prime Ministers recent trip. One of the positive aspects from our NZCTA meetings is the openness in the Q & A sessions and with the diverse interests in attendance, the topics discussed covered a wide range of the overall NZ-China trade relationship spectrum.

We would like to acknowledge the following successes in our region:

After a long journey and collaborative support from providers such as NZTE, ice cream maker Deep South Ice Cream has signed a multi-million dollar deal with a major Chinese restaurant chain – Big Pizza, who will be adding Deep South’s premier ice cream to their menu.

Synlait Milk are finalists in two categories in the upcoming HSBC NZCTA China Business Awards 2013.

  • KPMG - Creating leverage opportunities through Chinese/NZ business for the benefit of NZ Inc.
  • DLA Phillips Fox - Successful investment with China - Inward or Outward.

May Event

We are pleased to have secured as a guest speaker Patrick English who has kindly agreed to share and discuss his insights. Pat is the Executive Director of the New Zealand China Council. He will discuss opportunities as seen from the New Zealand China Council’s perspective with regards to the unique situation that Canterbury and the South Island are in, due to the rebuild of Christchurch, implications on tourism and export initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for business people with an interest in trade with China to meet and form supportive networks. Visitors from outside of Christchurch are most welcome to attend.

This event will be held on Tuesday 28 May from 5:15-7:30pm at Eliza Manor House, 82 Bealey Avenue, Christchurch. Attendance is limited but some seats are still available. Cost to attend is $25, payable at the door.
